We plan on using this blog to keep everyone updated during our trip to China to bring our daughter Natalee home.
Natalee was born on May 17, 2006. She is currently in the Guangdong Province in China.
We started the process of adopting her from China in September 2005. Our paperwork was logged in with the China Center for Adoption Affairs on October 21, 2005 and we received our referral on March 5, 2007.
We are currently awaiting our travel approval from the CCAA which will allow us to travel to China to bring Natalee home. Once we receive our travel approval, our agency will begin making travel arrangements and making an appointment with the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou, China. We anticipate traveling sometime around the first part of May, but as with this entire process, it is really hard to say for sure. Our trip to China will be about 2 weeks long, including a few days in Beijing where we will get to tour places like the Great Wall, Tieneman Square and the Forbidden City. After Beijing it will be off to Guangzhou where we will meet Natalee. It will take a little over a week to get all of the adoption paperwork finalized, obtain her Chinese passport, and then get her visa that will allow her to enter the U.S.
There will probably not be too much activity on the blog until we leave, but we will be sure to post whenever we get our travel approval and when we get our travel plans laid out. We plan on posting everyday from China.
